Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille fired two times late to take a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final seconds to send the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty win.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
