The much-anticipated second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been widespread.
Season 1 presents a large cast of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator stated earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season progresses, and how many of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people create a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on October 29.
